Telling the temperature

The cart path directly behind my condo is used by those folks walking dogs, riding bikes, jogging, or strolling. The temperature is obvious by watching how those folks are dressed.

Currently it’s in the low 70’s and folks are in short-sleeved tops. No sweatshirts. This morning they were bundled up for the chilly temps. It’s like a visual thermometer. I don’t have to look at the actual numbers.

The trees and the birds also provide clues. Cool temps but warm sun brings encourages the birds to stretch out where the sun warms them.

I can’t tell the temps just by the sunshine. Too many times I’ve been fooled by what appears to be a bright, sunny, lovely day only to find it’s cold.

But the folks on the path are never wrong. By the time they get to my condo, they’re dressed for the temperature.

Too Much to Do

I’m overly scheduled.

I need to get ready for the Pizza Party on the 21st but it has been hard to find time to go shopping. I have dinners, shopping, race track adventures and lots of fun stuff. I’m not complaining. Life is good.

I’m an Antique

I remember when the company that hosted my 13 websites referred to me as their “oldest techie geek.” I’m no longer a geek. I’m totally behind times when it comes to technology.

I rode in a new car Wednesday with all the high tech internet features. I was lost. My car doesn’t have a screen nor the ability to retrieve my texts or emails. I’m just an old, out of the loop lady. I never thought it would happen to me. I was the first among those I knew to get a computer. I bought a website the day they went on sale (dulcimers.com). But now I’m out of it and the worst thing is, I truly don’t care if I “catch up.” It seems like it would be too difficult.

I’d like my car to be more loaded, but I am still driving my 2004 Mercedes so until I buy a new one, I won’t have all the bells and whistles.

Rain is Coming

Windy today with a promise of rain tonight.

I hurried home from my Emergency Squad shift but the predicted storm is still a few hours away. I don’t feel like going to Rockin Rendezvous. Car parking is always difficult and I probably wouldn’t want to risk going by golf cart.

============

About midnight (I think it was) a severe warning came in on my cell and I was rudely awakened. A possible tornado was approaching. I did a mental inventory and remembered my three hanging plants on my patio so ran out in my sleepwear to move them to safety. In my hurry, I forgot to turn off my security system which loudly treated me as an intruder. I shut it off, moved the plants (while keeping Sophie in the house). Shortly after that, the storm hit. Lots of rain and storm noise but thankfully no tornado. Needless to say, it was difficult going back to sleep.
