The re-piping job is completed

The re-piping job by Reedy Plumbing was finished about noon today. I have to put the stuff from my master bedroom closet away and I need to figure our what stuff from my kitchen should be donated. I definitely don’t need to keep a bunch of the small appliances only John used (like bread makers, blenders, ice crushers, etc.)

At least the re-piping has been finished. Unfortunately the expense doesn’t “show.’ Everything looks as it did before.

I highly recommmend Reedy. Every worker (and there were a lot of them) was helpful and friendly. Occasionally I’d ask one of them to do some little thing for me and they were always quick to respond.

Re-Piping

Thursday and Friday my house will be ‘re-piped.” It’s a HUGE expense I wish I could avoid, but the possibility of my old (original) pipes breaking is too great to risk.

My “inconvenience” will include two days of no water, emptying out my master bedroom closet, and removing everything from one kitchen cabinet. (Those are physically demanding jobs and I’m not ready.)

I thought I could do the preparation Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday but yesterday my “day at the dentist” destroyed that possibility. Now I only have today and Wednesday and I’m already worn out.

I need to work on the kitchen (clean out the dishwasher and fill it with more dishes), do laundry, clean up Sophie’s poopie areas (including the lanai) and Thursday have everything ready for a 5:00 a.m. arrival of a team of workers from Reedy Plumbing to start the piping.

Today is Tuesday. My regular hair washing appointment happens at 10:30. On my way home, I need to stop at the grocery store, and get back asap to tackle the work that must be done.

Guess I should get busy. Kitchen first!

Thursday

The work crew arrived at 4:45 a.m.

My house is a disaster!!! I wasn’t prepared for the upheaval. It’s not just the lack of water. Everything is disrupted. I cleaned out most of my master closet so my bedroom is a mess.

Sophie doesn’t like “guests” so she wasn’t happy but I’m keeping her near me so she’s ok now.

The crew is polite and accommodating.

I had to move my car and golfcart out so the garage attic access was available.

A Day with the Dentist

What a day. At 1:00I arrived at the dentist thinking I was having my partial plate “adjusted” only to discover that I needed a “crown” on my upper left side. I got out at 3:00!! I was exhausted! Yes, I just sat there with my mouth open, but it was difficult and the rest of the day was shot.

I now have the crown and an adjusted partial for about $2,000. I must admit it’s easier to chew but I’m still tired. Will I ever recover?

Thank heavens I’m finished for six months.

Kel’s bad luck flying back to California

Kelly’s homebound trip was a struggle to say the least. She was supposed to leave Tampa noonish on Saturday and connect in Los Angeles then on to Monterey. Instead, because of storms in the area, the plane sat on the tarmac in Tampa for hours!! She finally got to Los Angeles last night but she’d missed her connecting flight to Monterey.

She called me this morning but still hadn’t made it home. The airline hadn’t provide over-night vouchers so she was on her own regarding her accommodations and Los Angeles hotels are EXPENSIVE!. Fortunately while waiting for a hotel shuttle, Kel met a friendly lady who’d also been on the Tampa to Los Angeles flight. The lady suggested that they share a room. The hotel upgraded them to two king beds for no additional charge.

I assume she’s now home. She really had a stressful day.
